ACE Curriculum Design Project
In this age of 21st-Century Learning and digital literacy, Teacher-Librarians are at the vanguard of instructional design and support. A team of Surrey elementary and secondary TLs has begun designing materials and learning activities promoting Active, Critical and Ethical Information use for all our students. Our wiki is "under construction," but look for updates in early 2011.
The Future of Reading?
In a time of rapid change and the ever-increasing publication of new information, many are worried that traditional reading practices -- buying bestsellers, visiting libraries, holding a book in your hand -- are on the wane. Click on the link below to read author John Green's provocative article, from the January 2010 edition of School Library Journal.
Future of Reading
DEC Professional Library
SD #36 (Surrey) is proud to announce the creation of a new library facility, showcasing professional resources for educators, in our brand-new DEC (District Education Centre) building. Our proposed opening date is June, 2011, when a wide variety of text and AV resources will be available for browsing and circulation. Online circulation will also be set up. Click on the link to be directed to the library catalogue (scroll down the menu and click on DEC Professional Library at the bottom right.) Look for more details in the near future, as the collection grows....
