Course Expectations for Junior Science Courses
(Science 8, 9 and 10)

Behaviour
Come to class on time with all of your supplies and show respect for others.  This includes:

a. Turning off and putting away cell phones, ipods, MP3 players . . . . .
b. Listening carefully to all lessons and instructions, student questions and input, and PA announcements.
c. Working quietly and diligently on the assignments given in class.
d. Refraining from using (or wearing) foul language or slanderous or racists statements.

Attendance:
Regular attendance is extremely important! If you miss a class you must bring a note from home that includes a phone number for verification purposes.  You are responsible for completing the work you missed. This includes:

a. copying notes and completing any work assigned during the missed class before the next class.
b. writing any missed test/quiz upon your return to school
c. making up missed labs during the designated time.

Assignments and Homework
All assignments and homework are due at the beginning of the class on the due date.

a. Marks will be deducted for unexcused late assignments at 10% per day.
b. Once the assignment has been marked and returned to the class you will only receive a maximum of 50%.
c. Cheating is unacceptable and will result in zero for all parties involved. Cheating includes:
·       copying or allowing someone to copy on a test or quiz.
·       using a cheat sheet on a test or quiz
·       copying or allowing someone to copy an assignment or lab either in whole or in part
·       copying directly from the text or other resource

Consequences:
Failure to follow the above expectations will result in the following:

a. You will be reminded of the rule.
b. I will discuss the ongoing problem with you during an after school detention.
c. Your parents/guardians will be phoned.
d. A referral will be made to the counselors/administration.
