Staffing Update: Monday, August 30, 2010
Please welcome Leigh McMartin, who will be teaching in one of our Neighbourhood Kindergarten classes. Ms. McMartin comes to White Rock from her previous teaching assignment at Panarama Park Elementary.
Please welcome Amanda Wardrop, who was the successful candidate for our Grade 7 Intensive Fine Arts teaching position. Ms. Wardrop brings an extensive background in theatre and classroom teaching and comes to White Rock from her previous teaching assignment in the Vancouver School District.
Please welcome Ms. Suzanne Wray who will be joining our Learning Support Team. Ms. Wray comes to our school from her previous assignment at Chimney Hill Elementary.
We have also learned that Ms. Donna Vosloh will be returning to White Rock for the 2010-11 school year to teach Grade 6 in the Intensive Fine Arts Program. Congratulations, Ms. Vosloh!

IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR SEPTEMBER 2010
The first day of school is TUESDAY, September 7th. Students in Grades 1-7 will attend school from 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. only. Please join our PAC who will be serving coffee from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. at the front entrance of the school.
Signs will be posted outside to indicate what classroom students are to report to on this first day. Students registered in our Late French Immersion and Intensive Fine Arts Programs will proceed directly to their new classroom with their assigned teacher.
Students in the neighbourhood program, as in previous years, will be assigned to a neighbourhood teacher during the first week, while we confirm numbers and new registrations. Given that numbers can be confirmed during these first few days, class placement will be assigned for the year by Monday, September 13th.
New Kindergarten students will attend with their parents at a specified time on September 7th. Information on the Kindergarten gradual entry schedule will be mailed during the summer. Parents of new Kindergarten students should phone the school during the first week of September if this information was not received during the summer.
IMPORTANT NOTE: If for some reason, your child will not be attending school on this first day, please contact the office so we can confirm your registration for the 2010-2011 school year. 604-531-5731

We are no longer accepting orders for school supplies through the school. Orders can be made on-line at Teaching Things. You must create an account to order on-line. Or, order forms can be obtained by clicking on the link above (Smart Packs 2010 White Rock), filled out, and then faxed directly to the supplier at 604-266-4519. School supplies purchased through the school or on-line will be distributed during the first week of school. School supplies not purchased through Teaching
Things should be brought to school no later than Monday, September 13th.

This updated information is imperative. If you do not notify us of these changes we will not be able to contact you if a spot should come available, or mail out any new information to you.

Sometimes extreme weather conditions or other unusual circumstances can cause class cancellations at a school, or district-wide on short notice. In the event of class cancellations, the Surrey School District will post information on its web site at www.sd36.bc.ca and provide updates to the following radio stations.
