Aboriginal Fun Night! Dec 1, 2009
Thank you to all those who came out to Aboriginal Fun Night!  We hope you had as much fun as we did. A big thank you to the staff and students of Kwantlan Park for letting us use their school to host our fun night.  A extra big thank you to all those (staff and volunteers) who worked to make this a fun event.  When the Aboriginal Department hosts events such as these, we are working towards meeting the goals in our Enhancement Agreement.  This event is intended to develop positive relationships with Aboriginal children and their families.  By creating a positive relationship, we are working towards enhancing Aboriginal students' sense of belonging so they can be successful.

An Inuit Story
One of the most popular Christmas legends concerns a young Inuit boy who listened carefully as one of his teachers explained why people give gifts at Christmas time - to continue the tradition of love and generosity displayed at the first Christmas.  Then, when December 25th arrived, the boy brought his teacher a piece of weather-polished whale bone.  "Where did you find such a beautiful item?" the teacher asked.  The youth named the spot, several miles away across the frozen land.  The teacher was touched.  "This is beautiful," the teacher said, "But you didn't need to trek so far to get the gift for me."  The boy smiled.  "The long walk is part of the gift," he said.
