Principal's Message
Pacific Heights is much like a beehive. It is a busy place where staff and students, parent volunteers and community helpers, go about their work
in a businesslike manner, with obvious purpose and a keen sense of both our collective and individual goals. There are few skirmishes and energies are generally directed towards proactive purposes. Everyone understands their role; the community, the staff and the students seem to have accepted their responsibilities both for each other and to each other.
Unlike a beehive, however, the imperative is not a purely instinctual one, but is based on a thoughtful exploration of the human condition, the challenges, the grace and the pitfalls associated with sharing a goal, a space and ourselves.
No one can be perfect but we all can achieve personal excellence. It is a thoughtful process that requires all of us at Pacific Heights to constantly tune in to our personal challenges, our minds and our hearts. We work towards our unique and individual potential while collectively "reaching for our best" as a school.
The staff exemplifies our motto "Reach For Your Best." Every day staff members demonstrate their keen interest in providing the very best educational experience that they can. Everyday someone - a support professional, a special education assistant, a volunteer, a parent helper, a teacher, a student or the office staff- impresses me with his or her wit, wisdom, caring, enthusiasm or immense talent. Everyday, no matter how frenetic the pace may be, I learn something wonderful about someone.
Pacific Heights is a place much like a beehive, where no one can do it all but everyone can contribute something to make the community successful.
Unlike the beehive, however, we are attached to each other in a fashion that is uniquely human, making us greater than the sum of the parts. It is a place where we collectively live, love, laugh and, of course, learn to "reach for our best."
